Sion Power, the global leader in the development of a new generation of high-energy, rechargeable lithium batteries for portable power is currently searching for a Review/Analyze data from experiments and implement changes based on results Director -Cathode Process Development to be based at its research and development facility in Tucson, Arizona. Sion's exciting new technology is based on the elements lithium and sulfur which combined yield a battery system with the highest theoretical gravimetric and volumetric energy densities of any battery couple and offer significant improvements in performance over current rechargeable batteries.

SUMMARY
This position will lead projects to develop carbon based primer coatings and carbon-sulfur coated cathodes for Li-S battery applications. Responsible for development, implementation and management of project plans and capital proposals; project plans to include both short-term and long-term strategic goals. Supervise engineers, chemists and technicians in the development and optimization of carbon-sulfur cathode chemistry and carbon-sulfur cathode processes. Also responsible for developing specifications for new process and analytical equipment purchases and management of vendors for bidding, procurement, and installation of equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Develop, implement and manage project plans and capital proposals for carbon-sulfur cathode development including short-term and long-term strategic goals.
-Review/Analyze data from experiments and implement changes based on results.
-Report progress against project plans and on capital proposals to company management.
-Lead the development of process improvements and alternatives including raw material improvements and alternatives.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
M.S. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field (Ph.D. preferred). Minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience in coating, mixing, milling and dispersion processes for battery products. Substantial knowledge in the relationships between wet coating processes and the micro and macro structure of the deposited coating. Familiar with process development for production scale-up (tolerances, yield and process uptime). Thorough understanding of Design of Experiments, SPC and Gage R&R statistical methods.
