FLSA Status: Full Time Exempt
The candidate will write specification of new equipment and participate to the general equipment specification of the company. The Candidate will also design, plan and coordinate required equipment modifications, in collaboration with process team, for the development of web handling, coating processes (particularly slot die coating process) and mixing process (particularly high shear mixer, various milling equipments and homogeneizer) to be used for the production of Sion Power Corporation products. The Candidate will perform coating process analysis, and summarize and report results. The Candidate will give recommendations for process development and help direct the design, procurement, fabrication, installation and process baselining of all hardware related to coating process and technology acquired for research, development or production of Sion Power Corporation products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Specifying and designing coating process equipment
-Writing equipment requirements.
-Installing and commissioning coating equipment, web handling and mixing equipment.
-Modifying development equipment as changes as required.
-Working with the other departments to identify and minimize systemic production bottlenecks
-Develop preventive maintenance program on coating equipment, web handling and mixing equipment.
-Develop critical spare parts list.
-Maintain work instruction documents.
-Provide training to operation and maintenance team.
-Attending important coating and converting conferences and events to both keep abreast of recent developments and to network with industry leaders.
TRAVEL
Travels may be required in order to carry out the Essential Duties and Responsibilities as listed above.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
-B.S. Mechanical Engineering
-5-10 years of pertinent experience in coating, with solid experience in online control and monitoring including:
-Registration (camera system)
-Thickness measurement
-Highly accurate Tension control
-Automated steering
-Knowledge of PLC and basic programming
-Conception of mixing and coating equipment
-Conception of web handling system
-Conception of precision tooling
-Familiar with auto CAD and 3D design
-Understanding of SPC
-Familiar with process development for production scale-up (tolerances, yield and process uptime)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The Candidate must speak English language. This person must be skilled in both verbal and written communication, with particular emphasis on technical writing and presentation skills.
COMPUTER LITERACY
The Candidate must be fluent in the use of personal computers for the standard office automation tasks (the windows environment and word processing, spread sheet, electronic mail, project management and presentation software) as well as for a variety of technical applications (CAD, CAD 3D, visual basic programming)
REASONING ABILITY
Strong analytical and reasoning skills are required. To develop complex, multi-step, manufacturing processes requires the ability to analyze diverse data streams and integrate the knowledge gained into the corporate knowledge base and then plot the most efficient path toward the goal. Since much of the effort is research and development, much of the data is acquired only after the company has started down that path. Thus, it is essential to be able to both develop robust plans, with built in checkpoints and contingencies, and to also be able to analyze the incoming data and make the correct decisions at these crucial checkpoints. Clear thinking and honed reasoning and analytical skills are absolutely essential to do this successfully.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be required to regularly use a PC, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, lift objects, speak, hear, and write. The employee may need to work in a dry room (~-60 °C Dew Point) for 6, or more, hours a day at times.
The employee may be required to handle and transport packaged chemicals. Working with potentially hazardous and/or toxic chemicals, with appropriate protective clothing and apparatus, though infrequent, is required.
The employee should be able to lift and move 25 pounds and could be called upon to lift or move up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Candidate will be immersed in a fast paced, ever changing environment. This person must be able to adapt quickly, meet deadlines and goals, and interface with all levels of employees both internal and external to the company. While performing the duties of this job, the person will occasionally work near hazardous and/or toxic chemicals, energized electronic equipment, and office machines in both laboratory and office environments.
