DESCRIPTION:
DuPont Fluoroproducts - Yerkes site located in Buffalo, NY, is looking for a Film Slitting and Winding Reliability Engineer. The Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) Film business is experiencing tremendous growth in the marketplace which is necessitating reliability, capacity and quality programs at our Buffalo location.
The Film Slitting and Winding Reliability Engineer is responsible for managing plant slitting and winding assets, developments and support activities. Development activities include conception, recommendation, and implementation of changes to the slitting and winding equipment, processes, and procedures as well as providing support to on-going production processes and equipment. The slitting/winding engineer should be able to coordinate and plan projects across the site with engineering, maintenance, and production, as well as maintain communication with other FLPR sites.
Job responsibilities include:
-Develop and maintain safe operating practices in the area of responsibility (LTT, SOC's, DNT, PM's and MOC).
-Bring experience and know how to improve practices, processes, equipment and materials to increase rates and yields to improve quality and reduce costs in the Tedlar® Finishing Area where the film is cut and wound into rolls for customers.
-Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures and conduct equipment performance evaluations.
-Analyze equipment trends, process variables, historical data, and field data to understand cause and effect of equipment reliability and roll quality.
-Continually promote consistency by standardizing procedures/equipment/operations within area of responsibility.
-Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment "fitness for use" criteria and specifications
-Participate in networks, professional societies and continuing education to stay current in advances in reliability improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A BS/MS in Engineering and work experience in a manufacturing environment as a finishing engineer or equipment engineer in a polymer film or paper plant. Direct slitting/winding technical experience is highly desirable. Familiarity with capital project management is also desired. Coating and film handling experience are preferred.
Desire to bring the science of winding film and work as a hands-on engineer is a definite must.
Demonstrated necessary skill sets include the following:
-Strong Interpersonal skills. Must work well with mechanics, operations personnel, and management.
-Ability to lead and initiate programs and projects.
-Ability to organize cross-functional teams and lead by example in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost.
-Proficiency in EXCEL, WORD, and PowerPoint, SAP and Reliability software.
-Troubleshooting skills in a variety of emergency, routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance tasks.
-Working knowledge of engineering standards and Maintenance Excellence including Process Safety Management (PSM).
-Ability to develop maintenance procedures, equipment fabrication, and repair specifications.
-Willingness to network with site and corporate teams to gain and share knowledge.
