Process Engineer

Description:

Precision Coatings is a leading custom coater in the development and manufacture of coated films and other flexible substrates for imaging, foods, electronics, flexographic, medical and optical technologies. This position will be based in Walled Lake, Michigan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide daily and long-term technical leadership to manufacturing (coating and mixing) for continuous improvements, troubleshooting and problem solving. Initiate and monitor quality, data acquisition and training programs.

Review, document and update manufacturing specifications, work instructions and procedures with coating and mixing personnel to ensure accuracy, goal attainment and repeatability.

Work with Engineering, Sales, Product Development, Operations and Customers to improve current processes and to develop new processes and products.

Work with coating and mixing personnel to conduct root cause analyses and to investigate the need for improvements in equipment and processes. Work with Engineering to specify equipment and prepare capital expenditures.

Provide technical support to operations for product and process problem solving as well as Product Realization efforts. Support may include 24 hour operations as well as long term project ownership.

REQUIREMENTS

BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of five years experience in web handling and roll-to roll web coating industries.

A working hands-on knowledge of coating methodologies, drying, and web transport is required. Proven abilities should include multi-tasking, solving and documenting complex problems, and conducting direct contact customer activities.

ISO, Six Sigma, DOE, GMP, PLC, Web Handling, Slot Die, and Gravure experience is highly desirable.
